Der Morgenstern gilt nach Sonne und Mond als das hellste Gestirn am Himmel.
Man nennt auch eine Waffe „Morgenstern“, welche in den Bauernkriegen im 16. und 17. Jahrhundert häufig zum Einsatz kam.
Noch heute gilt der Morgenstern als Symbol für eine Bürgerbewegung und steht somit für Energie und Stärke.
In der vorliegenden Fanfare wird versucht, die beiden Elemente Kraft und Licht miteinander zu verbinden.
Die kleine Trommel erinnert an die Bauernkriege. Ein ständig wiederkehrendes Motiv, mit dem das Werk beginnt, soll die von den Bauern ausgehende Kraft und Ausdauer symbolisieren.
Das Licht und das Leuchten des Morgensterns werden durch die Röhrenglocken und den hellen Trompetenklang angedeutet.
Der ruhige Mittelteil beschreibt das einfache Bauernleben. Er kann aber auch als das Betrachten des Sternenhimmels in einer ruhigen Nacht verstanden werden.
Im Schlussteil wird die fanfarenartige Melodie wiederholt und weiterentwickelt.

The term “Morning Star” also refers to a weapon that was commonly used during the peasant wars in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Even today, the Morning Star is seen as a symbol of a citizens’ movement and represents energy and strength.
This fanfare attempts to combine the two elements of power and light.
The snare drum evokes memories of the peasant wars. A recurring motif that opens the piece is meant to symbolize the strength and perseverance of the peasants.
The light and brilliance of the Morning Star are suggested through the use of tubular bells and bright trumpet tones.
The calm middle section reflects the simplicity of rural life, but it can also be interpreted as the peaceful act of gazing at the starry night sky.
In the final section, the fanfare-like melody returns and is further developed.
