Energievoll, pulsierend, optimistisch in der Gesamtstimmung sind die Attribute, die das Werk „Am Puls!“ gut beschreiben. Konzipiert und geschrieben wurde diese Blasmusikkomposition als Auftragswerk für Jugendorchester.
Eingängige und musikalisch leicht fassbare Rhythmik, Melodik und Harmonik liegen der Komposition zugrunde.
Aber, wie so oft im Leben: was leicht scheint, ist dann bei genauer Ausführung und im transparenten, konsequenten Zusammenspiel durchaus auch herausfordernd.
Der erste Teil versprüht eine gewisse Leichtigkeit, die das Stück vorantreibt. Bis ein kurzer melodischer Mittelteil die Szenerie unterbricht und beruhigt. Weiche Klänge setzen sich durch und erzeugen eine entspannte Atmosphäre.
Das Schlagwerkregister beendet diesen Teil mit einem rhythmischen Einstieg zu dem sich nach vier Takten das Blech gesellt und beide leiten wieder über zum pulsierenden ersten Teil.

Energetic, pulsating, and optimistic in its overall mood—these are the qualities that best describe the work “At the Pulse!” This concert band composition was conceived and written as a commissioned piece for young Bands.
Catchy and musically accessible rhythms, melodies, and harmonies form the foundation of the composition.
But, as is so often the case in life: what seems easy can, in precise execution and in transparent, consistent ensemble playing, indeed become quite challenging.
The first section exudes a certain lightness that drives the piece forward—until a brief melodic middle section interrupts and calms the scene. Soft sounds prevail and create a relaxed atmosphere.
The percussion section concludes this part with a rhythmic opening, joined after four measures by the brass, and together they lead back into the pulsating first section.
