Paul Hertel ist Komponist und Produzent. Arbeiten für Theater im deutschsprachigen Raum sowie für internationale Filmgesellschaften und Fernsehanstalten. Dazu kommen zahlreiche Kompositionsaufträge für Kammermusik, Streichorchester, symphonische Blasmusik, Brassband und Opern, auch Kinderopern – u.a. für die Deutsche Oper Berlin. Für die Kompositionen zum TV-Film “Der gute Ort“ (der jüdische Friedhof in Mannheim) wurde der Künstler als Mitglied in die “Freie Akademie der Künste Rhein-Neckar“ gewählt.
Seit einigen Jahren Gastvorlesungen und Workshops an den Musik-Universitäten in Graz, Mersin, Izmir und Istanbul. Seine Werke unterschiedlichster Genres stehen auf Programmen von Konzerten in aller Welt, sowie von einschlägigen internationalen Festivals.
Auszeichnungen: u.a. Honorary Degree: “Best Composer of Film Music”.

Paul Hertel is a composer and producer. He has created works for theaters throughout the German-speaking world as well as for international film companies and television broadcasters. He has also received numerous commissions for chamber music, string orchestra, symphonic wind band, brass band, and operas—including children’s operas, among them one for the Deutsche Oper Berlin. For his music for the TV film Der gute Ort (“The Good Place,” about the Jewish cemetery in Mannheim), he was elected a member of the Freie Akademie der Künste Rhein-Neckar (Free Academy of the Arts Rhine-Neckar).
For several years he has given guest lectures and workshops at music universities in Graz, Mersin, Izmir, and Istanbul. His works in a wide variety of genres are performed in concerts around the world and featured at leading international festivals.
Awards include, among others, an honorary title as “Best Composer of Film Music.”
