Andreas Simbeni – Down by the sally Gardens

In seinem Werk Down by the Sally Gardens verarbeitet Andreas Simbeni ein altes irische Volkslied. Basierend auf dem gleichnamigen Gedicht von William Butler Yeats aus dem Jahre 1889 erzählt er die Geschichte von einem jungen Mann, der nach langer und aufregender Wanderschaft in einem Weidenwald (Sally Gardens) seine große Liebe trifft und doch wieder weiter zieht.

In his work Down by the Sally Gardens, Andreas Simbeni draws on an old Irish folk song. Based on the poem of the same name by William Butler Yeats from 1889, it tells the story of a young man who, after a long and eventful journey, meets his great love in a willow grove (the Sally Gardens) — and yet continues on his way once more.
