In his work Down by the Sally Gardens, Andreas Simbeni draws on an old Irish folk song. Based on the poem of the same name by William Butler Yeats from 1889, it tells the story of a young man who, after a long and eventful journey, meets his great love in a willow grove (the Sally Gardens) — and yet continues on his way once more.
